MENDOTA — The pride of Sudbury, Ontario, “Big Blue,” will be returning to Mendota’s Sweet Corn Festival courtesy of Eureka Savings Bank of Mendota. They will be returning from the Drum Corps International championships in Indianapolis, Ind., and will make a stop in Mendota to taste some of DelMonte’s great sweet corn and put on a couple of exciting performances before their long journey home.
They will be performing in the Sweet Corn Festival parade on Aug. 11 and also giving a post-parade concert in front of the Mendota Elks Lodge in downtown Mendota at approximately 3 p.m.
“The Blue Saints Drum and Bugle Corps is a youth musical marching group that uses a team approach to learning music which encompasses commitment, pride and discipline,” said Mark Ripley, director. “Our basic goal is working together to achieve excellence and creating an enjoyable and inspiring experience for all members.”
The Blue Saints is a permanent, community-sponsored educational service for the youth of Sudbury to learn and perform music and an outlet for the expansion and development of the art of music. Programs are easily accessible, affordable and equally available to all youth regardless of economic situation, gender or physical challenge.
