Building plans proceed

SPRING VALLEY — The new building was on the minds of the Hall High School Board at its meeting on Wednesday.

Kevin Willis of First Midstate discussed the upcoming purchase of a $32,000,000 building bond. He advised the board it received an A+ rating from S and P. Willis will present several different options/ proposals at the August board meeting.

Joel Kahn, project executive from Leopardo Companies, gave a report on the progress on budget estimates and design documents. Kahn said everything was going as planned. His company has plans to meet with the design company within the next few weeks. He projects they will begin accepting bids in October after an informational meeting with local trades in August and September, and that construction will start in November.

After brief remarks from Hall Board President Jack Boroski, Rick Mattioda of Leopardo Construction Management and a representative of the architect firm of Healy, Bender & Associates, the board of education unveiled the official construction site sign.

In other business, the board went into closed session to discuss personnel. There were three action items after closed session. The resignations of teacher aide Judy Luecke and co-Devilette sponsor Ivy Samolinski were accepted. Nicole Wiltse was hired as a special education program aide.

The board honored several student athletes. Landon Piccatto was awarded the Father Garrahan Award and the Richard Nesti Athlete of the Year Award. Katie Hoffert received the Alice J. Schibrowsky Award, and Sam Rizzo was given the Richard Nesti Football Award.

The next meeting is at 6 p.m. Aug. 21 in the band room.
