Dinner/auction to benefit Special Olympics

UTICA — Starved Rock Area Special Olympics will hold its 11th annual fundraising auction from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Celebrations 150 in Utica.

This year’s theme is “Viva Las Vegas” with 20 in a Row Country 96.5 The Wolf’s Cowboy serving as the master of ceremonies. Zach Hintz, Special Olympian, and his father, Jim, will serve as auctioneers. Entertainment for the evening will be provided by The Steve Sharp Band. The auction is open to the public, and all proceeds will directly benefit the 550 Special Olympic athletes in this area.

A variety of food, golf and service certificates and silent auction baskets will be available for bidding.

Tickets for the auction are now on sale for $30 and include a dinner buffet and entertainment. Those interested in attending the auction can make their reservations by registering online at area16auction.eventbrite.com or calling Cheryl De Paepe, area director, at 815-220-8128 or sending a check with the names of those attending to Special Olympics, 1718 Peoria St., Peru, IL 61354. Walk-ins are welcome.
