TISKILWA — The investigation continues into the cause of a Wednesday morning crash in which a Ladd man was killed.
Bureau County Coroner Janice Wamhoff said Joseph M. Nemeth, 29, of Ladd was pronounced dead at the crash scene at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday on the Tiskilwa Bottom Road. He had to be extricated from the G & G Poultry truck he was driving, and medical personnel worked on Nemeth at the scene before pronouncing him dead, Wamhoff said.
An autopsy was to be performed Thursday on Nemeth. At this point, she does not plan to schedule an inquest into the death, Wamhoff said.
According to the Bureau County Sheriff's Department report, Nemeth was traveling at approximately 9:45 a.m. Wednesday on 910 North Avenue (Tiskilwa Bottom Road), about one and one-tenth mile west of Route 29 in Arispie Township, at the time of the crash. His vehicle traveled more than 125 feet off the road before striking a tree. There were no other passengers in the vehicle.
Among those responding to the scene were the Bureau County Sheriff's Department, Tiskilwa EMS and the Lifeflight medical helicopter.
