Dover Day Ballyhoo

DOVER — The Dover Day Ballyhoo will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday in the Dover Park with an art show and sale. The event will also feature homemade ice cream and root beer floats, with an ice cream paddle raffle, tractors and cars, a bags tournament, children’s activities and live music throughout the day. The Malden Lions Club will provide a bus with free eye screenings for macular degeneration. The famous pie auction begins at 4 p.m. this year. For more information, call Andrea at 630-346-1822. Back to school event

SHEFFIELD — The Sheffield United Methodist Church will again host its back to school event for students on Saturday. They will provide school supplies, shoes and haircuts from 9 a.m. until noon for those that could use help with the start of school in the community. Circle meeting

PRINCETON — The women of Hampshire Circle will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at Myrtle’s Cafe & Pie for their monthly dinner meeting and social hour. Brief reports will be heard. The ladies are reminded to bring in their empty medication bottles for donation at a later time and to continue with “Count Our Blessings” project to be disbursed at years end. Breastfeeding support

SPRING VALLEY — La Leche League of the Illinois Valley, a breastfeeding support group, will meet at 10 a.m. Aug. 15 in Spring Valley. This monthly group helps mothers gain knowledge and support from other breastfeeding moms. Expecting moms are encouraged to attend, as well as new and experienced moms.
