There’s a new carver in town

PRINCETON — This year’s Bureau County Fair in Princeton will feature a new carver, Luree Magee from Progressive Edges.

Timber Falls Tree Service will presents this carving specialist four times daily, as part of the free entertainment at the fair.

Magee will start with a log and will complete a variety of figures, from woodland creatures, farm animals and gators to totem poles and benches in as little as an hour to three hours time. The sculptures range from 2 to 9 feet tall. Audiences attending these shows will see work begin, forms beginning to emerge from the wood. Fair-goers can return as often as they like to monitor the progress on the carvings, and watch as new creations pile up. Finally, all the craftsmanship will be auctioned on Aug. 25, the last day of the fair, in front of her display at 2:30 p.m. The auction helps defray the cost of the fair.

For complete information for this year’s fair, see the fair’s website at www.bureaucountyfair.com. The 158th Bureau County Fair runs Aug. 21-25 in Princeton.
