HENNEPIN — Preparations are underway at the Hennepin United Methodist Church for the 101st Annual Harvest Home celebration to be held on Sept. 21. The day’s activities will include a bake sale and candy sale sponsored by the Methodist Women in the Meeting House next door to the church; a lunch stand operated by members of the church in the church’s educational wing at the North entrance on Fifth Street; children’s face painting; decorating pumpkins; a kettle corn booth; and an apple pie baking contest and a Chef’s Choice pie contest. After the pie judging, all pies entered in the contest will be sold for a donation. There will be stalls for the farmer’s market and craft show. There will also be a parade.
The day will finish with a traditional chicken dinner, complete with fired chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, applesauce, coleslaw, bread and butter, beverage and home made pie in the Church social room. The dinner will be served at 4:30, 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. There will be an early bird special for the 4:30 p.m. dinner, adults will cost $8 and children 12 and under will cost $4. Prices for the 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. dinner are $9 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. Carry out meals will be available starting at 4 p.m. in the church educational wing at the north entrance on Fifth Street. The price for carry out meals is $9 for adults and $4 for children.
