OGLESBY — Bill and Peggy Danley of rural Streator recently donated $1,000 to Illinois Valley Community College’s Peter Miller Community Technology Center capital campaign.

“After all Bill has done for IVCC, he and Peg’s generosity is especially heart-felt,” said IVCC President Jerry Corcoran. “For nearly 30 years, Bill helped shape IVCC; we are indebted to his excellent service and leadership.”

Prior to joining the IVCC faculty in 1968 as a journalism instructor, Danley was an award-winning reporter, feature writer and photographer at the News Tribune in LaSalle and Daily Times in Ottawa.

In 1971, he was named IVCC’s first Director of Public Information, a position he held until his retirement in 1994. He wrote appendices for the college’s history book, “IVCC: the First 70 Years,” authored three books and is working on a fourth. In 2008, he was named a charter member of the IVCC-LPO Hall of Fame.
