Zephyr Route has announced two upcoming rails tours.

• Kansas City weekend — This event will be Sept. 13-15 and will include stops in Chicago/Naperville, Princeton, Galesburg and Kansas City. Participants will leave on Friday afternoon. A full dome lounge-dining car will be operated for outstanding viewing. Champagne and appetizers will start the journey followed by a delectable dinner served the traditional dining car way: white linens, fresh flowers, silverware, glassware, chinaware. The train will arrive in Kansas City in the late evening for two nights lodging at the Hyatt Hotel, just across from historic Union Station. They will spend Saturday on their own. Some Kansas City attractions are just steps away from the hotel — Hallmark Visitors Center, World War I Memorial and Crown Center shopping — and those interested may also join the group to dine at Jack Stack’s, voted one of Kansas City’s best barbeque restaurants. The return trip will beige early Sunday. A continental breakfast and sandwich lunch will be served in the traditional dining car manner. The fare is $625 per person single or double occupancy. Reservations must be made by Sept. 1 to insure the trip will operate.

• Colorful Colorado — The event will be Oct. 3-7 and will include stops in Chicago/Naperville, Princeton, Galesburg and Glenwood Springs, Colo. Participants will board on Thursday afternoon and enjoy champagne and appetizers in the dining-lounge car followed by a savory dinner the traditional dining car way. In Denver a dome lounge car will join the train for some spectacular views through the Rockies to the resort town of Glenwood Springs. Lodging is at the Hotel Colorado for two nights, once called The Western White House for Teddy Roosevelt. Late Friday afternoon and all Saturday participants will be able to take in the fall mountain air and enjoy attractions such as golfing, the large hot sulfur pool and a trip to Aspen. Sunday will begin the return trip just after noon through the magnificent Rockies. Lunch and dinner will be served en route, plus a continental breakfast and light lunch will be offered before arrival at your starting point. The fare is $1,995 per person based on double occupancy. For a single supplement quote, call the Zephyr Route. Reservations must be made by Sept. 12 to insure this trip will operate. A detailed itinerary can be viewed at www.zephyrroute.com.
