Alice Marie Mathison

PRINCETON — Alice Marie Mathison, 80, of Princeton passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, at Heartland Manor in Peoria.

She was born on Oct. 18, 1932, in Amity Township, Ill., to Leslie and Nellie Nicol. She was an active member of First Lutheran Church of Princeton. Alice also enjoyed the Naomi Circle at the First Lutheran Church, playing cards with her friends and delivering meals on wheels.

She is survived by her children, Brad (Susan) Mathison of Birnamwood, Wis., and Verna (Joe) Palkovic of Peoria; one son-in-law, Rodney Burwell of Princeton; her grandchildren, Ryan (Karen) Mathison, Aaron (Bridget) Palkovic, Nicholas (Christine) Palkovic and Emma Mathison; her great-grandchildren, Calla Palkovic, Dixie Palkovic, Rylee Mathison and Emma Mathison; one brother, Glenny Nicol; two sisters, MaryEllen Krug and Marjorie (Bud) Mathison and her step-mother, Lucille Nicol.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glenn Mathison; her son Forrest and her daughter, Glenda Burwell.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Lutheran Church of Princetonm Pastor Norman Femrite officiating.Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Norberg Memorial Home and from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family or in lieu of donation, spending time with the elderly in nursing homes.

The family wishes to extend their love and gratitude to the staff and residents of Independance Village and Home Bound Health in Peoria. Also a very special thank you to the caregivers and staff of Heartland Manor for their compassion and care that helped Alice ease from this life to the next with dignity and peace.
