Community Notes

Cookout planned

WYANET — The Bureau Valley Buddy Bags will host a cookout from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 24 at the Wyanet Locker. They will be serving ribeyes, butterfly chops, pork burgers, brats, hot dogs, chips and pop.

Rotary meeting

PRINCETON — The Princeton Rotary Club will meet at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday at the Elks Lodge in Princeton.

Car cruise

SPRING VALLEY — An antique car cruise to benefit the Spring Valley Historic Association will be Sept. 14 in downtown Spring Valley. The event is for vehicles 1988 and older. Registration will be from 10 a.m. to noon in the 100-200 blocks of West St. Paul Street. The show will be from noon to 5 p.m. There is no registration fee. The event will also include a 50/50, food and music by 3-D Sound.

The Princeton Coffeehouse

PRINCETON — Singer and songwriter Louis Ledford will perform at 7:30 p.m. today, Saturday, at the Princeton Coffeehouse at Open Prairie UCC, 25 E. Marion St. Ledford can accompany himself with a guitar, banjo, mandolin or fiddle. The cost is $12 at the door. Homemade desserts and fair trade coffee are available. Henry County Genealogical Society

KEWANEE — The Henry County Genealogical Society will meet at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Kewanee Public Library second floor meeting room. An elevator is available at the First Street.

The program will be given by Cat White, creative designer, who will talk about the creative services and products Creative Images Center Inc. has to offer. Larry Lord will talk about the transferring and restoration of film into the digital realm.
