Meetings & Minutes

Sheffield Village Board

SHEFFIELD – The Sheffield Village Board met at 7 p.m. on Aug. 5 in the Sheffield Community Center and conducted the following business:

• Approved minutes from the July 15 meeting, bills for $35,709.14, and the treasurer’s report.

• Approved to rescind a motor fuel resolution approved April 15 and approved a new motor fuel resolution.

• Approved a group to use the community center for their morning exercises.

• Heard the village engineer present a new resolution for the motor fuel tax expenditures, which includes seal coating and curb replacement.

• Noted that due to the low estimate of the curb replacement it did not have to go out for bids; trustees are asked to contact local concrete contractors.

• North Central Illinois Council of Governments noted there is funding for infrastructure projects. The village engineer plans to check to see if the village’s survey is still good.

• A thank you note was read from Burton Doty for the removal of a large dead tree on village property and adjacent to his property.

• Trustees handed in a list of ordinance violations to be given to the officers to post.

• A trustee noted the police car didn’t sound to be in good condition. The village board needs to look into replacing the vehicle and the old red pickup truck.

• Heard from village superintendent that another weed eater was purchased because the old weed eater’s crankshaft broke, and it was not repairable. Also, West Park had been painted, a leak at the rescue house had been repaired, mapping with the I.R.W.A. is almost finished, and learned the superintendent is working on patches and he is changing chemical companies to Vicking Chemical Co. because of better service and a little savings on chlorine.
