Deisbeck works plate
PERU — District 20 umpire John “Chuck” Deisbeck of Peru was selected to be the home plate umpire for Saturday’s championship game of the Junior League Baseball World Series in Taylor, Mich.
Tiger Travel Baseball
PRINCETON — Tryout dates for Tiger Travel Baseball for the 2013-14 season are Saturday and Sunday at the Princeton High School ball diamond. Players should pre-register by calling or texting 815-719-5623.
Ages 8-12 tryouts will be from 10 a.m. to noon, while ages 13-16 tryouts will be from 1 to 3 p.m. The $10 tryout fee includes a T-shirt.
Players need to attend only one session on Saturday or Sunday. Players must be signed in by a parent or a guardian. Players should be prepared for a practice setting.

Meet the Storm
MANLIUS — Bureau Valley High School will host the 2013 Meet the Storm Night for all fall sports Friday Beginning at 6 p.m., all parents are urged to meet for approximately 30 minutes to discuss rules and procedures at the following locations: football (auditorium), cheerleaders (room 311), cross country (media center), volleyball (gym), golf (drivers ed room 444) and drill team (room 312).
Following the meeting, all fall participants will be introduced on the football field. After the introductions, the football and volleyball teams will hold a short practice/scrimmage.
