Taking Bolingbrook by Storm

One could say this year’s winner of the 2013 Bolingbrook Open took the fourth annual event by storm last weekend.

Laramie Storm was in second with a 72 after the first round at the Bolingbrook Country Club. The former Wyaton Hills club champ shot 73 on day 2 to win by 8 strokes.

“I think due to some of the gusty winds and pin positions made for a challenging final day,” Storm said. “I hit the ball well for the whole weekend but four three putts and a costly nine iron on day two cost me a few strokes.”

With the win, Storm will play in the Chicago District Golf Association Mid-Am this week at the Flosmoor Country Club.

“I wanted to utilize the Open as warm-up for that Mid-Am Championship. Hopefully, I can continue the quality ball striking and roll in a few more putts,” Storm said.

Holes-in-one: Elmer Schorwang is not acting his age on the golf course these days. The 81-year-old golfer from Peru aced the No. 7 hole at Spring Creek Golf Course Aug. 12 using his 7 iron.

Andy Roliardi of Chicago aced the 173-yard, No. 9 hole at Spring Creek on Aug. 13 with his 7 iron. It was witnessed by Joe Roliardi of Peru.
