PERU — Lindsay Shepard of Streator, ophthalmic technician at Illinois Retina Institute, is published in the September/October issue of the Journal of Ophthalmic Photography for her retinal imaging photos in conjunction with Dr. Kamal Kishore’s article that describe a new technique to remove bleeding from under the retina caused by the rupture of an aneurysm.

“When I’m able to show a patient the image of their eye with the condition they are experiencing, I think they really appreciate and have a better understanding of what’s going on and why they’re here to see us. I feel a lot of satisfaction seeing people really connect and take an interest in their health.”

“Lindsay has 11 years of experience in ophthalmology, three of them with us, and we’re lucky,” said Dr. Kishore, a sentiment echoed by Dr. Ekong.

She is also a blog writer for the Ophthalmic Photographers Society and is in current talks to have retinal imaging photos published in EyeNet Magazine, a respected ophthalmology magazine.
