Rodefer enters guilty plea to drug charge

PRINCETON — A rural Princeton woman has pleaded guilty in Bureau County Court to the felony of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, heroin.

Vanessa L. Rodefer, 28, entered her open plea of guilty on Aug. 23 before Associate Circuit Judge C.J. Hollerich. The judge ordered the probation department to conduct a pre-sentence investigation and set a sentencing hearing for 9:30 a.m. Oct. 11.

Rodefer was represented in court by Assistant Public Defender Jacob Frost. Prosecuting the case was State's Attorney Patrick Herrmann.

In May 2013, a cooperating individual working with the TRIDENT task force arranged for the purchase of heroin from Rodefer. Under surveillance of TRIDENT agents, the cooperating individual bought four packages of heroin from Rodefer for $100. Rodefer was placed under arrest after the transaction, and the $100 was recovered from Rodefer. The heroin weighed less than one gram.
