Adele Sever

SPRING VALLEY — Adele M. Sever, 89, of 285 Golf Course Road, Spring Valley, passed away at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, at Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru.

Born Aug. 18, 1924, in Spring Valley to John and Sophia (Mueller) Pytlik, she married Raymond Sever Dec. 1, 1945, in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Spring Valley. He died June 27, 2000.

She had worked at the Green River Ordinance Plant and Sampsel's in Spring Valley.

She was a member of Spring Creek Golf Course, Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Spring Valley, the Altar and Rosary Society of the church, Ladd Moose, V.F.W. Auxiliary and Bureau County Senior Citizens.

Surviving are two daughters, Kathy (Chris) Potthoff of Spring Valley and Karen (Jim) Mecklenburg of Rochelle; one son, Ray (Linda) Sever of Peoria; one sister, Eleanor Urbanski of Spring Valley; nieces and nephews; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Andrew Pytlik.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Church, Cherry, with the Rev. Patrick Fixsen officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Spring Valley, at a later date.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

The Barto Funeral Home in Spring Valley is assisting the family with arrangements.
