PRINCETON — The Princeton City Council conducted the following business at its Sept. 3 meeting in City Hall:
• Had a first reading of an ordinance for the sale of property adjacent to the Sunset Prairie West subdivision for a sum of $651 to Rick and Lois Franz.
• Agreed to buy a new dump truck for the street department at a cost of $111,671. The city will pay $20,000 down and then finance the vehicle over three years, which is a similar arrangement to what the city made last year for the purchase of a new street sweeper. The new dump truck will replace a 1991 Ford L8000 with 108,000 miles. The old truck will be kept and used for hauling concrete and debris. Once the truck has no value, it will be either scrapped or sold at a future city auction.
• Heard from Commissioner Joel Quiram that he will have a proposal to discontinue the city’s Broadband Over Power Lines program at the council’s next meeting.
