HENRY — River Valley Players will hold a theatre make-up class on Oct. 5.
The class is sponsored by a grant from the Sun Foundation and the Illinois Arts Council, and will be conducted by Keith Wagner.
Wagner is a graduate of Westmore Academy of Cosmetic Arts for Film and Television in Burbank, Calif. He has more than 25 years experience in the areas of theatre, film and television. He taught theatre make-up at Illinois Valley Community College and was the hair and make-up chair for Peoria Opera Co., in addition to chairing make-up for many theatre productions.
There will be two make-up sessions on Oct. 5 at St. Mary’s Community Center, located at 1301 Second St., Henry.
Session 1 is a youth make-up class from 11 a.m. to noon. It is open to anyone ages 8 and up. The workshop will cover theatre make-up basics, aging, scars and zombie make up. This session is free to all participants of the RVP Youth Theatre Production of “Willy Wonka.” Individuals not involved with “Willy Wonka” will be allowed to participate for a fee of $5.
Session 2 is an adult workshop from 1 to 4 p.m. It is open for individuals ages 13 and up. This session will cover basic stage make-up, aging, illness and scars. The cost will be $15 per person. All participants should arrive with a clean face, void of any make-up.
Participants for both workshops are asked to bring a wash cloth and towel. Each class includes all materials needed for the workshop. Class size is limited.
