Area Boy Scouts demonstrate their patriotism as they march in last year’s Homestead Festival parade in Princeton. Hundreds of visitors are expected to be in Princeton this weekend to join area residents for the 42nd annual Homestead Festival, which includes a wide range of activities and events on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Some of the special activities on Friday include the traditional pulled pork barbecue dinner and ice cream social at Soldiers and Sailors Park, horse-drawn wagon rides, a window display competition, and a free Bureau County Choir concert on the courthouse lawn. In addition to the parade, other Saturday events include a children’s fun fair, skate park competition, Owen Lovejoy Homestead tours, helicopter rides and a blues concert. Sunday wraps up this year’s Homestead Festival with a flea market and downtown car show, a children’s tractor pull, and another performance of “Hometown Anonymous”, the original production created by Festival 56. A complete listing of the weekend events and activities are available through the Homestead Festival website.
