Young fifth at Rock Falls

Bureau Valley senior Ryan Young brought home a fifth-place finish in the small-school division of Saturday’s Rock Falls Rocket Invite.

ROCK FALLS — Bureau Valley senior Ryan Young placed fifth among the small school field in Saturday’s Rock Falls Rocket Golf Invite at Rock Falls Golf and Pool.

Young shot an 18-hole total of 87. The Storm (391) finished seventh among nine teams in the small school field. Logan Twidell and Jacob Heidenreich added 95s, and Harrison Brousseau had a 114,

Princeton placed fifth of nine teams in the big school field, led by Ian Nichols (83), Colby Robbins (84) and Zach Hicks (85). Sterling and Rock Falls both shot 321s to lead the field. LaSalle-Peru (359) was sixth.

At Shady Oaks: Erie (181) swept Amboy (189) and Bureau Valley (217) Friday. Logan Thake and Tracer Mills shot 45s for the Clippers. Young led the Storm with a 49.

At Emerald Hills: Grifin Kozeal (44) and Josh Gross (48) led Amboy (196) Thursday vs. Fulton (180) and Newman (183).
