DePue stumped on tree issue
DEPUE – A large, dilapidated tree located on private property in DePue has raised safety concerns for neighbors, who have shared their worries with the village board.
On Monday, Mayor Eric Bryant confirmed the property owner of 208 Newell St. is currently a ward of the state, therefore, the person is unable to have the hollowed-out tree removed.
He said village Superintendent Bruce Yuvan has looked at the tree and confirmed it is dangerous and too large to remove with just community help. It would cost about $900 to have the tree cut down professionally.
