PRINCETON – Valorie C. Wade, 28, of DePue was placed on three years probation and ordered to serve 42 days in the Bureau County Jail after being convicted of the Class 4 felony of unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

In addition to the probation and jail time, Wade was also ordered to pay fines totaling $2,032. She was convicted of the felony on Sept. 4. This is Wade’s first criminal conviction.

The Spring Valley Police arrested Wade on Feb. 24, after responding to a citizen complaint that a person was passed out in a vehicle. The Spring Valley Police Department responded to the scene, and Wade was awakened. At that time, Wade attempted to conceal several small plastic bags of a substance later determined to be heroin. After a brief struggle, Wade was taken into custody and charged with the Class 4 felony.
