Quinn’s task force to meet in Peru

PERU — The LaSalle-Peru Township High School Area Career Center will be playing host next week to a meeting of Gov. Pat Quinn’s Area Career and Technical Education and Vocational Centers Task Force.

State leaders will discuss the future of career and technical education in Illinois during the meeting. Participants will be looking at the financial challenges that career centers are facing today and exploring innovative solutions to ensure that opportunities for career and technical education training for Illinois high school students remains a viable option.

George Letavish, policy analyst for Quinn, will be conducting the meeting and Bob Sheets, a policy advisor from the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, is expected to attend.

The public meeting will be from 1 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19 in the Dolan Building (Corner Cafe), 200 Ninth St., Peru.
