Cross country

At Spring Valley: Hall’s Al Baldonado raced to a first-place finish on the campus of Hall High School with a winning time of 17:46. Ben Hosto of Amboy/LaMoille came in second followed by Hall’s Rosey Fuentes (19:14), Christian Garcia (19:21) and Ohio’s Johnee Schulte (19:33).

The Red Devils tallied 24 points to top Amboy/LaMoille (39) and Rockridge (64).

Amboy/LaMoille swept the first three finishes and four out of five en route to scoring points to double up Orion 22-50. Megan Grady (21:22), Jennifer Popovich (22:54) and Erin Hosto (22:56) led the Lady Clippers pack with Kaitlin Boers (24:07) placing fifth. Kayee Olivares led Hall (75) with an eighth-place finish (25:08.15).

At St. Bede: The host Bruins defeated Fieldcrest 22-33 Wednesday with Princeton and Kewanee not able to field full teams. Kewanee’s Rolando Aguilar covered the 3.0 mile course in 17:52, followed by Princeton’s Cody Workman (19:47) and St. Bede’s Jake Condon (19:48), Leo Lopez (20:17) and Brent Koogler (20:20).

Zoe Mead finished second in the girls race for Princeton (69), which took third behind Fieldcrest (26) and St. Bede (45). Kewanee’s Julia King (22:20) was the race winner with St. Bede led by the 6-7 finish of Laura Sickley (25:13) and Raley Mauck (25:25).
