John Hasbrook

John P. Hasbrook, 55, of Buda and Sheffield, passed away Friday, Sept, 13, 2013, at Walnut Manor Nursing Home in Walnut.

John was born Dec. 14, 1957, in Kewanee, the son of Charles and Bernice (Franck) Hasbrook. He was a 1976 graduate of Annawan High School. He was united in marriage to Lynn “Pinky” Johnston in Princeton.

He worked at Ace Hardware in Princeton for several years. John was a farmhand, helping many local farmers in the area. John was a die-hard Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. He also enjoyed woodworking, golfing and an avid sports enthusiast.

Survivors include his wife, Lynn “Pinky” Johnston of Princeton; a daughter, Heather Samuels of Annawan; three grandchildren, Julian, Gia, Lincoln; four sisters, Julie McDougald of DeWitt, Iowa, Jill (Lynn) VanAcker of Princeton, Joyce Minnaert (Larry Sheldon) of Princeton, and Jayne Horton (John Scrimsher) of Wyanet; two brothers, Jerry (Karen) Hasbrook of Marietta, Ga., and Joe (Maureen) Hasbrook of Sheffield; and several nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held celebrating John’s life at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Vandemore Funeral Homes of Atkinson. Jim Croegaert will officiate.

Visitation for John will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. (two hours prior to the service) at the funeral home on Tuesday.

There will be a private family inurnment at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Sheffield. Per John’s request, cremation rites have been accorded.

Memorials may be left to the John Hasbrook Memorial Fund.
