Lady Lions win LTC opener

The LaMoille/Ohio Lady Lions won their Little Ten Conference opener, defeating Serena 25-15, 25-16 on the road Thursday.

Leading contributors for the Lady Lions were (2-2, 1-0) were Shiela Browning (6 kills), Rae Schultz (11 points, 2 aces) and Toni Lawrence (7 points, 2 aces)

L/O hosts the Lady Lion Invite Saturday with pool play beginning at 8:30 a.m. at both LaMoille High School and Allen Jr. High.

Sherrard 2, St. Bede 1: The Lady Bruins lost in three sets Thursday at Sherrard, falling 22-25, 25-11, 20-25 to the Tigers. Morgan King led the Lady Bruins (3-6, 0-2) with 11 points and five aces with Raley Mauck and Claire Dudek each collecting four kills. King had 18 digs and Morgan Bosnich 10 assists in her first match at setter from a concussion.

Coach Dawn Williams said the Lady Bruins went with some position changes, and she was pleased with “how we played and work together throughout.” St. Bede had 13 blocks on the night and a good distribution of kills among many players, she said.

The St. Bede sophomores won 25-20, 16-25, 17-15.

Erie 2, Bureau Valley 1: The Storm (6-3, 2-1) dropped their first match in Three Rivers Conference play, falling to the visiting Cardinals. Lindsey Hoffert led the Storm with nine kills and three aces and shared scoring honors with Valerie Reuter with nine points. Sydney Lebahn chipped in 23 assists and Nicole Bornsheuer had 4.5 blocks.

Rockridge 2, Hall 0: The Rockets swept the the visiting Lady Devils 25-18, 25-12 in Three Rivers play Thursday. Shelby Justi and Brooke Keegan each had two kills for Hall (1-10, 0-3).

At Kewanee: IVCC defeated Black Hawk East 27-25, 27-29, 25-16, 13-25, 15-9 Wednesday. Kayla MacDavitt led the Lady Eagles (7-2, 3-0) with 13 kills and five blocks and Johnna Schultz had 14 points and 18 assists.
