Community coffee

SHEFFIELD — The First United Church of Christ in Sheffield will host its monthly coffee from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday in the U.C.C. Parish Hall. Fresh-baked cinnamon rolls will be served.

Homecoming parade

SPRING VALLEY — Hall High School’s Homecoming parade will be at 5 p.m. Oct. 10. Any organization or business that wishes to have a parade entry should contact the school at 815-664-2100 or 815-664-4500 and leave a message for either Karen Klopcic or Joe Panzica.

Cub Scout fundraiser

PRINCETON — Cub Scout Pack 4151 has begun its annual popcorn sale. Items include but are not limited to sea salt splash, cheddar cheese, microwave butter, butter light, double butter, mud puddles, kettle corn, jalapeno, caramel, white ruby, yellow popping corn and gift sets. Orders can be given to any Pack 4151 Cub Scout through Oct. 24. Delivery will be from Nov. 15 to Nov. 21. Bit of Home

The Heart of Illinois Blue Star Mothers will be collecting items to send in care packages to U.S. military troops deployed overseas. Collection boxes will be set up at both entrances of Walmart until Oct. 13. They are looking to collect: beef jerky, individually wrapped snack foods, individual size microwave meals, hot chocolate packets, travel-size personal hygiene items, laundry pods, unscented baby wipes, single serve cereal boxes, pouches of chicken or tuna and individually wrapped hard candies.
