Ladd Village Board 9-10

LADD – The Ladd Village Board met on Sept. 10 and conducted the following business:

• Village engineer Adam Ossola reported verbal approval has been received for the final Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) loan disbursement on the Cleveland Street Sewer Separation Project.

• Heard from police chief Bill Gaefcke that his department has received a 2014 Tobacco Enforcement Grant for $1,100.

• Approved the purchase of a new 870 shotgun from Kramer's Guns in the amount of $395 for the new squad car.

• Gaefcke reported progress is being made in the development of a disaster plan for the village.

• Approved the request for a handicapped parking space in front of the American Legion, pending state approval.

• Heard Jack Barton of 215 S. LaSalle Ave. state he has noticed many damaged trees on the public by-ways due to Emerald Ash Borer.

• Approved donations in the amount of $50 to Ladd Fire Department, Walmart Distribution Center, Children's Miracle Network golf outing and the Ladd Christmas Walk.

• Heard that Dick Ajster is interested in the village's 2002 Dodge squad car and has offered to do the striping and lettering on the new 2014 squad car in exchange for the title to the old squad car. The board concurred with his offer, and the police chief will be choosing a lettering package.

• Village attorney Pat Barry announced no inquiries were received following publication of a resolution authorizing the sale of Lots 7, 8, 9 and 10 in Block 49 as surplus real estate. The property has been appraised for $8,000, and the village must sell it for at least 80 percent of its appraised value. The board approved the sale of the property to Francisco and Diana Madera for $6,400.

• Reviewed the request for proposal for residential garbage collection. The village's current contract with Illinois Valley Waste Services will expire in February.

The board will meet again at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 24 in the village hall.
