St. Margaret’s Auxiliary awards scholarships
SPRING VALLEY — The St. Margaret’s Auxiliary awarded three scholarships to area students who have been accepted into or who are currently enrolled in a health care professional curriculum. This year’s recipients are: Natalie Nelson, Lela Nelson-Parola and Abigal Greider.
Nelson is currently working toward becoming a children’s audiologist and possibly a professor of audiology. She completed her undergraduate work in May at Northern Illinois University and beings her graduate work in the audiology program in the School of Allied Health and Communicative Disorders at Northern this fall. She attended Princeton High School and IVCC. She was awarded the inaugural $1,000 Janyce Stuckert Memorial Scholarship.
Nelson-Parola of Peru is a nursing student at IVCC. She was awarded the $1,000 scholarship in memory of Auxiliary charter member Marjorie Barto. As a student at the University of Arkansas – Fayetteville, Lela was very active in her University Parish and was able to make many trips to volunteer at a clinic in Gould, Ark. She has completed coursework at IVCC and began attending Illinois State University this summer to work towards becoming a family nurse practitioner.
