ORION — Orion quarterback Blake Matson threw for four touchdown passes to land the Chargers to a 33-7 win over the visiting Hall Red Devils Friday night.
Orion struck first after blocking a Red Devil punt early in the first to go up a score on a 3-yard touchdown by Drake Schultz at the 9:06 mark of the first quarter.
Hall (2-2, 1-1) an-swered with less than three minutes to go in the first quarter to take their only lead of the game 7-6, cashing in on a three-yard run by quarterback Taggart Venegas and Matt Krolak’s PAT kick.
After that the Chargers took command posting 27 unanswered points in the lopsided effort with four TD passes by Matson (5, 85, 6, 30).
“We knew coming in they were going to be a good team, and that we would have to play well tonight to get out of here with a win,” Hall coach Randy Tieman said. “We’ve got to re-evaluate some things and see who can play and who can’t because we’ve got kids that don’t understand what we’re doing right now I think. We’ll take a look at that tomorrow and see what is going on.”
Orion managed to block another punt in the second quarter, and the Chargers followed it up scoring on a 5-yard pass from Blake Matson to Cody Hutcherson.
Later, with the ball on their own 15-yard line, Matson threw an 85-yard pass to Benny Terronez to put the score at 18-7.
Hall was unable to get anything going on offense in the second half.
