Here's a rundown of Saturday invitationals around Bureau County:

Princeton Invitational (boys golf): The meet will start with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Saturday with golfers going out in threesomes at Chapel Hills Golf Course, formerly Hunter's Ridge.

The Tigers are the defending champions of their own event, but coach Duane Price said the Rock Falls Rockets have been of late. Other teams in the field include Bureau Valley, Hall, IVC, Mendota, Rochelle and St. Bede.

Leading golfers coming in include Princeton's Zach Hicks, Hall's Pete Mautino, St. Bede's Joey Dudek and Jarret Olson, Rochelle's Mehrings, Rock Falls' Andrew Tichler and Trace Hippen, IVC's Jarom Hutson and Mendota's Jaron Robinson.

Bureau Valley Invitational (cross country): There will be 40 teams for the running of the Storm's annual invitational, including locals Amboy/LaMoille, Annawan/Wethersfield, DePue, Hall, Mendota, Ohio and Princeton. The meet starts at 8:30 a.m. with the F/S boys followed by the girls at 10 a.m., the varsity boys at 10:40 and the co-ed open at 11:20 a.m.

A/W, which won last week's Princeton Invite, will battle Carlinville for the girls title. At the top of the list figure to be Sterling Newman and Elmwood/Brimfield.

Individual favorites will be A/W's for the girls with A/W's Michael Cook and Hall's Al Baldonado back for an encore from Princeton. Plano's Lundy is in the lead pack also.

Record-holders are Bureau Valley's Jason Bill, who ran a 15:13 in 2001, and Princeton's RebekahFaber, who clocked a 18:33 a year later. Both former BCR Runners of the Year were state runners-up in 2001.

Bureau Valley sophomore volleyball: Pool play will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday. Pool A consists of Bureau Valley, St. Bede and Stark County with the Princeton freshmen squad rounding out the field. In Pool B are the Princeton sophomores, Wethersfield, Dixon and Henry.

Princeton F/S tennis: The Tigresses tournament will be held at the PHS courts Saturday morning.
