Storm pull together to place sixth
WALNUT — It was not a good start to the weekend when Bureau Valley lost Number 1 runner Ryan Taylor to a sprained ankle during PE class, leaving him on the sidelines for Saturday’s Bureau Valley’s Invitational cross country meet. But his teammates pulled together to claim a sixth-place finish with 228 points.
Alleman ran away with the title with two top six finishes and four in the top 13. The Storm checked in sixth behind Newman (104), Rockford Christian (137), Rock Falls (180) and Elmwood-Brimfield (224).
“Our other runners really stepped up. Our boys are running real well in their pack right now, and our top five seem to really shift each race who is in what position,” Donner said.
