Buda plans for new water treatment facility
BUDA — The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency’s paperwork required as part of the village’s radium removal effort progressed to Stage 2 at Monday’s meeting of the Buda Village Board.
The board learned site plans have been received for the planned facility. The cost of the project is estimated to be in the $1.3 million range.
The village is now in the grant process to obtain funds for the project, which will consist of an addition to the existing water treatment facility. The treatment facility will use salts to remove the radium, so it is below the permissible range of 5 parts per billion.
