DEPUE — Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton will sponsor a “Pink Night” Thursday at the girls’ volleyball game at DePue High School.
In recognition of breast cancer awareness, Perry Memorial Hospital and DePue High School are teaming together to show support for both the DePue volleyball team and breast cancer survivors.
According to the Susan Komen Foundation, it is estimated that in 2013 there will be more than 226,000 new cases of invasive breast cancer in women and more than 2,100 new cases of breast cancer in men. Getting regular mammogram screening tests is the best way to lower the risk of dying from breast cancer. Screening tests can find breast cancer early, when it’s most treatable.
The game will begin at 6 p.m. Those that wear pink to the game will have the opportunity to register for a door prize. In addition, PMH will be giving out educational material regarding breast cancer and the importance of self breast exams.
