Coroner kudos

I often see our police departments and fire departments praised for their selfless giving of time and for their courageous endeavors. However, how many times have you read about the caring and honest humanity of our Bureau County Coroner Janice Wamhoff? I have had the unfortunate necessity of meetings with Janice twice in the last 15 months. We lost my nephew, Chad Sarver, in May of 2012 to a heart attack at 36, and lost my nephew, Derrick Tate, on Sept. 19, 2013, in a tragic motorcycle accident at the age of 39. Both of these boys were at the prime of their lives, and both lives were cut way too short.

Either tragedy in itself was a lot to bear for our family, but without the help and guidance of our county coroner, it would have only been more tragic.

Janice was there for our families to help us all make the decisions necessary at times like this. I am not sure what she receives for pay, but it cannot be enough. It takes a strong person to do the job she does, and I am sure it takes a lot of time away from her family and any social events that might be happening when she is called.

I would just like to say thank you for a job well done and thanks for helping me and my family get through these tough times.
