PRINCETON— The next Widmark Wednesday film stars former Princeton resident Richard Widmark in a 1957 military legal drama.
The movie begins at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Princeton Public Library. Admission is free.
Widmark plays a Korean War-era Army officer assigned to investigate the traitorous acts of a fellow officer, played by Richard Basehart, who admits betraying his country while a prisoner of war and steadfastly refuses to defend himself.
As Widmark’s character probes deeper into the case, however, the startling truth begins to emerge.
Co-starring is Academy Award-winning actor Martin Balsam, June Lockhart and Rip Torn. Widmark’s friend, Academy Award-winning actor Karl Malden, directed.
Widmark, a 1932 Princeton High School graduate, acted in more than 70 movies from 1947 until 1991.
The film series will continue Oct. 16, 23 and 30.
