SPRING VALLEY — Ann M. Mercier, 98, of Spring Valley died at 5:57 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, in the Spring Valley Nursing Center.
She was born April 6, 1915, in Spring Valley to Anton and Anna (Lokosis) Laugal. She attended Miller Country School and Hall High School. She married Hank Mercier in 1933.
She was a homemaker and along with her husband owned and operated Mercier’s Tavern in Spring Valley from 1946 until retirement in 1984. Ann was an accomplished seamstress, an avid gardener with a green thumb for both flowers and vegetables, and was happiest when she could be outdoors. She loved to cook and bake and is famous for her fried chicken, fish and roast beef sandwiches and those wonderful homemade buns. In the later years of her life she enjoyed the company and friendship of her kitties and counted them her great friends.
