First Person (Katherine Donnelly)

City: Walnut.

Where did you grow up: Walnut.

Family: Parents, Ed and Ann; one older brother, Jim; and one older sister, Laurie.

Pets: Two yellow labs, Jake and Rebel.

Occupation: Music student teacher.

What is the last song you listened to: “Devil’s Backbone-The Civil Wars.”

What is the last book you read: “The Crackshot Kid” (to my kindergarten music students).

What is the last television show you watched: “Grey’s Anatomy.”

If you were stranded on a desert island and could have just one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be: A rare filet with mashed potatoes and gravy.

What is your favorite local restaurant: Oriental Gardens-hands down.

If someone handed you a million dollars, how would you spend it: I’d start paying off my student loans. A million dollars should be pretty close.

People would be surprised to know that you: Absolutely love to fish.

What is your favorite thing about the city you live in: The people. They would give you the shirt off their backs expecting nothing in return. There’s just nothing like small-town people.

If you could change one thing about your town, what would it be: More businesses so we didn’t have to rely on our surrounding towns as much.
