Cherry Grade School students got an early taste of Halloween on Tuesday, when the entire student body was allowed to choose their own pumpkin at a local pumpkin patch, sponsored by John the Barber Foundation and established by Jack Rooney. Students walked from the school to the pumpkin patch, where all the students — kindergarten through eighth grade — chose a pumpkin, and then headed back to the school to enjoy apple cider and apple doughnuts. Later in the month, the Cherry Student Council is sponsoring a pumpkin decorating contest, and the students are encouraged to decorate their pumpkins and bring them back to school.
