LASALLE — The Illinois Valley Symphony Orchestra will feature Orna Arania, an acclaimed mezzo-soprano, at its 3 p.m. Oct. 27 concert in the LaSalle-Peru High School auditorium.
Pieces in the performance will include Mahler’s Songs of a Wayfarer. Also on the program is Schumann’s Symphony No. 3 in E-Flat Major and Mussorgsky’s introduction to The Fair at Sorochinski.
Arania received a Doctor of Music degree in Voice and Opera Performance from Northwestern University, where she studied with Mignon Dunn and Sherrill Milnes. She is now a tenured associate professor of voice at Northern Illinois University and is also an assistant conductor and singer in the Lakeside Singers. She has performed in opera productions, recitals, oratorio concerts and with orchestras around the world.
