PRINCETON — American Legion Post 125 of Princeton will hold a cookout from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today, Saturday at Walmart. They will serve brats, chops, small steaks, chips and drinks.
Historical Society meeting
HENNEPIN — The fall quarterly program of the Putnam County Historical Society will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Agricultural Museum, 327 Old Highway 26, Hennepin.
Lorraine Terando from the Illinois Valley Herb Guild will be the guest speaker. He will speak on the selection, growing and using herbs. The public is welcome to attend, and the event is free.
MANLIUS — Bureau Valley High School National Honor Society will be going door to door from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday to collect canned food to give to the area food pantries. The National Honor Society will be collecting food in Walnut, Buda, Wyanet, Manlius and Sheffield.
PRINCETON — Bureau Valley Buddy Bags will hold a fundraiser from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Pizza Hut in Princeton. Adult tickets are $9, children 10 and under tickets are $5. Dinner includes Pizza Hut buffet and drink.
LADD — Relay for Life’s Team Thrive is sponsoring Rip’s Night from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Monday at Rip’s Tavern in Ladd. The cost is $7 per order. A bake sale and raffles will be offered. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life of Bureau County.
SPRING VALLEY — The Church of the Nativity of Our Lord in Spring Valley will have a Bunco Party from 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 29 in the church hall. SHEFFIELD — There will be a trivia night for the Sheffield Veterans Park playground fundraiser at 7 p.m. Nov. 2 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Hall in Sheffield. Teams of up to 10 members can participate. Cost is $100. Drinks and snacks will be available for purchase. There will be a 50/50 raffle. To register in advance, call Toni Pickard at 815-303-2334. Registration may also be done at the door.
PRINCETON — An American Red Cross blood drive will be from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Nov. 7 at the First United Methodist Church, 316 S. Church St., Princeton.
