Maizie Durham

WALNUT — Maizie L. Durham, 84, of Walnut died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

Maizie was born on Jan. 6, 1929, in New Bedford, the daughter of Herbert and Pearl (Potts) Yonk. She was united in marriage to Robert Durham on Feb. 28, 1948, in the Walnut Christian Church parsonage.

Maizie was a member of Walnut United Methodist Church and the GRCC Country Club.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Durham of Walnut; one daughter, Sandra Morgan of Sterling; one son, Robert A. (Susan) Durham of Rock Falls; six grandchildren, Darius Morgan, Tarra Deppen, Melissa Rippy, Joni Durham, Cari Johnson and Robert M. Durham; six great-grandchildren, Logan and Cade Rippy, Emma Deppen, Bryce Campos, and Brenley and Jeremiah Johnson; two sisters, Lavonne Rasmussen of Oregon, Ill., and Melva Gibson of Walnut; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Darlene Hartz.

Funeral services will at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut with the Rev. Mark Harkness, pastor of the Walnut United Methodist Church, officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded after the service.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

A memorial has been established to the Walnut United Methodist Church.
