Widmark Wednesday

PRINCETON — Fugitive Nazis, a beautiful woman, and a famed Hollywood leading man’s life-or-death chase through a treacherous jungle.

Is that hero Indiana Jones? No, it’s Princeton’s own Richard Widmark.

The next Widmark Wednesday film stars the former Princeton resident in a 1956 suspense saga filmed in Mexico.

The movie begins at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, at the Princeton Public Library. Admission is free.

Widmark plays a reclusive author tracked down by a magazine reporter in Central America. Trouble ensues when their single-engine airplane is forced to land near the remote jungle hideaway of Nazi war criminals.

Co-starring are Jane Greer and Academy Award nominee Trevor Howard.

Widmark, a 1932 Princeton High School graduate, acted in more than 70 movies from 1947 until 1991.

The film series continues Oct. 23 and 30.
