Meeting planned

WYANET — The Wyanet Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Historical Hall.

Purse, accessories fair

PRINCETON — The Perry Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will sponsor a purse and accessories sale from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday in the north lobby of the hospital. Major credit cards will be accepted. Proceeds will be used to purchase needed equipment for the hospital. For more information, call 815-879-7431.

Christmas in the Valley

SPRING VALLEY — Christmas in the Valley will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 9 throughout Spring Valley. The event will include raffles, shopping specials, pictures with Santa, face painting, children’s games, holiday music, trolley rides, a petting zoo, pony rides and bake sales. There will also be a children’s craft at the library until 1 p.m., a vendor’s show at city hall, and open houses at Valley Flowers and Gifts, and St. Margaret’s Gift Shop.

Buddy Bags meeting

MANLIUS — The next Bureau Valley Buddy Bags meeting is at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Manlius. All are welcome to attend.

Veterans dinner

PRINCETON — The Princeton Moose Family Center will host a veterans dinner from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Moose Lodge, 1339 N. Euclid Ave. The ham dinner will also include potatoes, vegetable and salad. The meal will be free for veterans and $6 for each guest. Reservations are suggested by Nov. 12 and can be made by calling Kent Harmon at 815-915-6152. Entertainment for the evening will be provided by the Generics.

Train trip meeting

PRINCETON — The Farm Bureau has announced its upcoming nine-day, eight-night tour of Colorado’s Historical Trains. The trip will take place Sept. 5-13, 2014. The trip includes five scenic rail excursions. An informational meeting has been scheduled for 2 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Bureau County Farm Bureau. Food collection

PRINCETON — The Princeton and Tiskilwa area Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts will conduct their annual food drive in Princeton and Tiskilwa from 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 9. Place non-perishable food items and paper products outside your door or some place visible for the scouts to pick up by 9 a.m. The Princeton Public Library will serve as a collection point from 9 to 11:30 p.m. For more information, contact Blythe Maltas or Jeremy Allen at 815-915-6073 or visit

Bingo Party

DEPUE — St. Mary’s of DePue will hold its annual Feather Bingo Party at 3 p.m. Sunday in the church hall. Lunch will be available for purchase. For more information, call 815-228-91352.

Cemetery cleanup

DEPUE — St. Mary’s Cemetery in DePue will have its fall cleanup of all spring and summer grave decorations until Nov. 17 after which all remaining decorations will be disposed of. A reminder, no glass or shepherd hooks are allowed in the cemetery.

Pancake breakfast

PRINCETON — The Princeton Veterans Group will host its semi-annual pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to noon Nov. 17 at the Legion post, 1549 W. Peru St. in Princeton. The men will serve pancakes, sausages, eggs, applesauce, juice, milk, cold cereal and coffee. Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for ages 4-12. This is a major fundraiser for the group.
