BCR insider: The Storm return to Port Byron for the second straight year, in the revised Three Rivers slate. Their playoff hopes are on the line, needing to win out over the Rams and Week 9 foe Fulton. They have made impressive steps to get there after a 1-4 start with wins over Morrison and Amboy/LaMoille.

Last week: BV beat A/L 27-20; Riverdale lost to Fulton 57-6.

Those teams will meet next week for what could be for the division crown. ... The Rockets are ranked fourth in the AP 2A poll. Former assistant Sam Graves has taken over as head coach this year, replacing Jason Kirby, the former Bureau Valley coach, who is now at Canton. …. Princeton’s 16 points last week vs. Orion marked the first time the Tigers had scored twice in a game this year.

BCR insider: Once looking strong for a playoff bid at 4-1, the Bruins are reeling after two straight defeats. They need to take care of business Friday against the Chargers to avoid a must-win situation Week 9 vs. Sherrard (3-4, 1-4). Orion would also become playoff eligible with a win Friday and will be no push-over. Both teams reached the second round of the playoffs in 2012, St. Bede in 3A, Orion in 2A. … Orion beat Hall decisively 33-7in Week 2, the same team St. Bede lost by seven last week. Both have lost to Kewanee. ... The two new Three Rivers rivals have never met on the gridiron before.
