Dance

PRINCETON — There will be a Halloween dance at the Princeton Moose Lodge from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday. Music will be provided by the Generics Goodies Band. Everyone is invited to come. A dinner will be served from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Costumes are not required, but are encouraged.

Grand opening

OGLESBY — Illinois Valley Community College will have its grand opening of the Peter Miller Community Technology Center at 1 p.m. Friday outside the main entrance. The ceremony will begin with a flag pole dedication and pledge of allegiance featuring IVCC student veterans. After chorale director Norm Engstrom sings the National Anthem, IVCC President Jerry Corcoran will welcome guests and emcee the ceremony. District legislators and other dignitaries will speak. After a ribbon-cutting, tours will take place until 6 p.m.

Memorial service

PRINCETON — Perry Memorial Hospital and Bureau Valley Volunteer Hospice will honor the memory of those patients that passed away in their care during the past year during a service at 2 p.m. Sunday in the lower level conference room of the hospital. This service is open to anyone who has experienced a loss. A memorial card, which will be read during the service, may be completed. To receive a card, or for more information, call Connie Sutton at 815-876-4433. Light refreshments will be served after the service.

Vendor bazaar

DALZELL — A vendor bazaar will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Dalzell Fire Department. The event will feature 35-plus vendors, including Alexis Fire Co., and also include a 50/50 drawing, raffles, food and door prizes. Admission is free. The event will be held rain or shine.

DAR meeting

PRINCETON — The Princeton-Illinois DAR chapter will meet Saturday in the Bureau County Republican Community Room in Princeton. Coffee time begins at 9 a.m. followed by the meeting at 9:30 a.m. In celebration of its 150th anniversary on Nov. 19, the program will be the “Gettysburg Address,” recited by Kimberly Glenn. Members whose ancestors were involved in the Civil War may give a brief presentation of that ancestor. Members are asked to be non-perishable food items for the food pantry; diabetic items are especially needed.
