The LaMoille Cub Scout Pact 4059 and Cherry Boy Scout Troop 1055 picked potatoes at Greg Fischer’s farm for local food pantries.

LAMOILLE — LaMoille Cub Scout Pack 4059 and Cherry Boy Scout Troop 1055 went to Greg Fischer’s farm and picked and bagged potatoes on Sept. 27.

Fischer, a LaMoille farmer, offered to give fresh potatoes to the local food pantries if he could get the manpower (or in this case the boy power) to dig them and bag them to give them away. One of the Boy Scout parents heard about his offer and asked both the Cherry Boy Scout Troop and the LaMoille Cub Scout Pack if they would like to earn service hours to assist with this generous donation.

After picking and bagging for about four hours, they had picked and bagged 4,980 pounds of potatoes that were delivered to the Hall Food Pantry (4,060 pounds) and the Illinois Vally Food Pantry (920 pounds). A very good use of young hands (and their parents).

Assisting from Pack 4059 were Sid Davis, Joel Billhorn and Elijah. Assisting from Troop 1055 were Dave, Brad and Luke Beattie, Luke and Dylan Lukegren, Corey Pinter, Tanner Dominy, Thomas Molln, Connor Whitten, and Hunter and Travis Green.
