MENDOTA - Tyson Lorenzen and luck were on the Princeton Tigers' side in Wednesday's Mendota 1A sectional soccer semifinals..
Lorenzen scored both goals in the Tigers 2-0 win over the host Trojans. The first one came from about 50 yards that found its way past the Mendota defense and through the hands of the Trojans keeper.
Princeton dodged two early bullets when back to back Trojan shots hit off the goal post in the first two minutes of the game. PHS keeper Lucas Bauer also made a diving save in the early going.
"It's better to be lucky than good," PHS coach Jason Bird said.
The Tigers (18-3-5) advances to Saturday's title game at 6 p.m. to play the winner of Wednesday's second semifinal, a contest in which Somonauk was leading Macomb 5-2 in double overtime.
