Youth hunt nets first buck
I have thought for a long time the DNR’s programs for youth deer season and youth duck season have been excellent to get fathers and sons out to hunt together. This year is no exception.
This year’s youth deer season found Noah Harrison and his dad, Brad, out in the timber bright and early Saturday morning. They got into their buddy stand before 7 a.m. and got ready to hopefully see some deer. Noah is going to be spoiled because in a half hour’s time, they spotted a nice buck walking toward them.
The buck continued to walk their way, even walking underneath them. When he got about 20 yards past, Brad grunted a little. The buck stopped and looked back. Noah didn’t wait. He pulled the trigger on his 20 gauge H&R single shot and placed a well aimed shot at the buck. He ran about 25 yards and crashed.
